Why is a daily walk-thru necessary?
(What tools do you use to manage the future of your business ?)
1. To organize the daily work load
2. To delegate
3. Most owners and managers are aware of the different problems but are too busy putting out fires.
Result: the manager is now free to supervise and handle any unexpected situations as they arise !
Helpful hints:
1. Prepare workshops during manager’s meeting to develop skills
2. Trained managers must also teach skills to assistants.
3. Follow-up by district manager to ensure daily walk-thrus are functioning by reviewing notes on store visits.
Remember:
The difference between success and failure is in the individual’s determination!
“Working together, Your team can make a difference!”

Dayly routine
Here are a few tips to run a more profitable and successful business.
1. Plan your day before the phones and receiving door starts ringing!
2. Begin your walk-thru at the front of the store.
a. Is the entrance welcoming?
b. Is is easy to enter your store?
c. Are the window displays appealing?
d. Are the aisles clear of obstructions?
e. Are your store signs neat and do they provide customers easy to understand information?
f. Do you have exciting in-store displays?
g. Check bins and cubbies at the cash area, are they full and well signed? When did you rotate them?
h. Walk up and down aisles making sure tables, gondolas, racks, end caps, side caps and bins are full.
c. Have lead gondolas (endcaps) in seasonal area been rotated?
d. Have you planned changes in the bargain/seasonal/front bins/outside of store area to freshen up for the weekend business?
3. Check store bought programs to make sure they are full and appropriate orders are placed.
4. Assign mark-ups and mark-downs to be completed on effective dates.
5. Check fax and computer for any messages and assign for execution.
6. Check clip strips and side caps are filled and should be rotated for freshness and appeal.
7. Check receiving area for any unfinished shipments to process.
8. Once your walk thru is complete, prioritize and delegate.
9. Follow up on completion of assignments.
10. Most important is communication with your staff and/or key-holders so that the team remains focused until all assignments are completed.
11. Floors must be swept every night and no boxes in the aisles when the store is open. The only boxes to be on the floor are the ones that are being worked on.
REMEMBER WAGE COSTS CAN BE CONTROLLED WITH A LITTLE FOCUS.
A WALK THRU DONE DAILY WITH EVERY MEMBER OF THE MANAGEMENT TEAM AND STAFF COMMUNICATION WILL RESULT IN SUCCESS
